| The Gleneagles Golf Course at The Equinox... | ||||||||||||||||
| The Gleneagles Golf Course at The Equinox is a distinctly New England experience. The course was designed by Walter Travis for the widow of Franklin Orvis, then owner of The Equinox. Recently a renovation by architect Rees Jones brought the historic course, originally opened in 1927, recognition with Golf Magazine's prestigious Silver Medal Award. |
In fall, perfectly manicured fairways and greens gently unfold to meet hillsides of sugar maple, glowing bright red and orange in the crisp autumn sunshine. Designed in the traditional Scottish links style, the golf course takes advantage of its lush mountain setting. |
Gentle contours flow through the valley, following the land with minimal environmental impact. The Gleneagles Golf Course was one of the first courses to be registered as a Cooperative Sanctuary by the Audubon Society of New York State, for its ability to enhance wildlife habitats. |
