Kauai's graciously restored sugar
plantation Kilohana, now home to
Gaylord's Courtyard Restaurant,
offers an intimate glimpse into
the island of Kauai's past. During
the early 1900s, sugar was the
king on Kauai and the prosperity
it brought to the island was best
reflected in the mansions built by
sugar plantation owners.
Of all the island's plantations
and estates, none was grander
than the Gaylord Parke Wilcox
home, the exquisite manor
house at Kilohana Plantation.

Built in 1935, Kilohana was the
most expensive, and the most
lavishly furnished, home ever
built on Kauai.
