Award-winning architect Tom Fazio created two distinct 18-hole layouts at Pelican Hill; Ocean North and Ocean South. First to debut in 1991 was Ocean South, a combination of canyons and pine forests, traversing to seaside cliffs.

The 12th hole, Pelican's Nest, is one of golf's most beautiful and most difficult holes. Nestled among rugged rock outcroppings atop Pelican Point, this long par three hugs the sea bluff.
Cross Canyon, On the Rocks and Ocean Bound, are further reason Ocean South rated Golf Digest's "Best New Resort Course In America" in 1992.
