In the first round of the 2000 Michelob Championship Cameron Beckman, Robert Damron, J.P. Hayes,
Sean Murphy and Steve Pate all shot 5-under-par 66s to share the lead. Damron needed only 26 puts,
with a 12-footer on the 18th, while Murphy had a 25-footer on the ninth for his spot. Pate, who finished
13th on last year's money list, was bogey free until the last hole. Finishing one stroke back in 6th place
were Billy Andrade, Keith Clearwater, Frank Lickliter, Perry Moss, and Kevin Sutherland with 4-under-par
67s. The defending champion, Notah Begay III, shot a 5-over-par 76 along with seven others.

In the second round on Friday Bradley Hughes shot an 8-under-par 63, his best round ever on the tour,
for an 11-under-par 131 total and first place. Hughes shot one bogey and nine birdies for a three stroke
lead over David Sutherland. Sutherland shot a second round 5-under-par 66 for an 8-under-par 134 total
and second place. Sutherland shot a bogey and six birdies in his round. Finishing in third were Tommy
Armour III, Michael Bradley, David Duval, J.P. Hayes, Steve Pate, Loren Roberts and Tom Scherrer with
7-under-par 135s. Duval, who won last week's Buick Challenge, shot a 65 that included two bogeys. Notah
Begay III, last year's winner, shot a 71 after a first round 76 and missed the cut.

In the third round Bradley Hughes held onto the lead with a 72 for a 10-under-par 203 three round total.
Hughes double bogeyed the 10th hole but then reclaimed his lead by one stroke with four straight birdies
on the 14th through the 18th. Finishing in second place were David Duval, Frank Lickliter and Chris Riley
with 9-under-par 204s. Duval, a two time winner here, shot a third round 69 and was in route to his 13th
win of the season. Riley and Lickliter both shot third round 68s. Fifth place was shared by Cameron
Beckman, Loren Roberts, David Sutherland and David Toms with 8-under-par 205s. Toms turned in a 67,
Beckman a 68, Roberts a 70, and Sutherland a 71. Michael Bradley, Steve Flesch, Jim Furyk, J.P. Hayes
and Mike Reid finished in ninth with 7-under-par 206s.

In the final round David Toms shot a 66 and Mike Weir a 64 for 13-under 271s, forcing the playoff. Toms
sunk a 5-foot putt for par on the first playoff hole for the win. Toms earned his fourth victory on the PGA
Tour and $540,000 moving him into the top twenty on the money list. Weir took second place earning an
impressive $324,000. Frank Lickliter took 3rd place with a final round 69, after shooting three bogeys and
seven pars, earning him $204,000. Fourth place went to Tom Scherrer with a final round 67 for a 274
total. Stephen Ames, Bradley Hughes, Sean Murphy and Mike Reid shared fifth with 275s for $105,375
apiece. Michael Bradley, Scott Hoch and Chris Riley took ninth with 276s for $81,000 apiece. David Duval,
last week's winner, shot a final round 75 for a 279 to finish tied for 19th place.
