In the first round of the 2000 WGC American Express Nick Price shot a 9-under-par 63 for the lead.
Price shot five pars and eleven birdies for a three stroke lead over Padraig Harrington. Harrington shot
a 6-under-par 66 for second place. Third place went to Andrew Coltart and Scott Hoch with 5-under-par
67s. Hoch birdied his first four holes on his first nine then bogeyed the 14th and recovered with a birdie
on the 18th. Franklin Langham, Chris Perry, and Mike Weir shared fifth place with 4-under-par 68s.
Finishing in eighth place were Robert Allenby, Carlos Franco, Sergio Garcia, Retief Goosen, and Nic
Henning all with 3-under-par 69s.

In the second round Nick Price held onto the lead with a 72 for a 9-under-par 135 total. Price bogeyed
two of his final four holes for a two stroke lead over Hidemichi Tanaka. Tanaka, who qualified for the
event by finishing third on the Japanese money list, carded the low score of the round with a 66 for a 7-
under-par 137 total earning him second place. Finishing in third place was Padraig Harrington with a
second round 72 for a 6-under-par 138 total. Mark Calcavecchia and Duffy Waldorf shared fourth place
with 5-under-par 139s while Bob May, Chris Perry and Tiger Woods finished one stroke back a 4-under-
par. Woods shot a bogey free round while trying to become the first player in fifty years to receive ten
wins on a season with the PGA Tour. Jose Coceres and Vijay Singh shared ninth place with 141s.

In Saturday's third round Hidemichi Tanaka shot a 70 for a 9-under-par 207 and the lead. Tanaka had
a one stroke lead over Mark Calcavecchia and Mike Weir. Calcavecchia shot a third round 69 and Weir a
65 for 8-under 208s. Calcavecchia briefly held the lead after shooting five birdies over his first seven
holes to put him at 10-under until he played the back nine at 1-over to settle for second. Fourth place
was shared by Nick Price and Tiger Woods with 7-under-par 209s. Price who lead the first two rounds.
shot five bogeys for a 74 while Woods, the defending champion, carded a 69. Sixth place was shared by
Padraig Harrington and Duffy Waldorf at 5-under-par 211. Eighth place was shared by Michael Campbell,
Vijay Singh, Bob May and Lee Westwood with 4-under-par 212s.

In the final round Mike Weir shot 69 for an 11-under-par 277 total and the win. Weir earned his second
PGA Tour victory by two strokes and $1,000,000. Lee Westwood finished in second place with a 67 for a
9-under-par 279 total and $500,000. With his second place finish Westwood moved ahead of Darren
Clarke on the Euro Tour money list and took the Order of Merit. Third place was shared by Vijay Singh
and Duffy Waldorf with 8-under-par 280s for $287,000 apiece. Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Nick
Price, and Tiger Woods shared fifth place with 7-under-par 281s. Ninth place went Michael Campbell with
a 6-under-par 282 while Mark Calcavecchia finished one stroke back for tenth.
