| In the first round of the 2002 Audi Senior Classic Dana Quigley shot a 3-under 69 for the lead. Walter Hall took second place one stroke back with a 2-under-par 70. Third place was shared by Rodger Davis, Jim Colbert, Ed Dougherty, Hubert Green and Lon Hinkle with 1-under-par 71s. Finishing in eight place were Danny Edwards, Bruce Fleisher, Morris Hatalsky, Joe Inman, Walter Morgan, Christy O'Connor, Dick Mast and Daniel O'Neill with even-par 72s. The defending champion, Mike McCullough, shot a 1-over-par 73 with fifteen others four strokes off the led. In Saturday's second round Ed Dougherty shot a 65 for an 8-under-par 136 total and the lead. Dougherty shot 6 birdies and an eagle in his round for a two stroke lead over Bruce Fleisher. Fleisher shot a second round 66 for a 6-under-par 138 total and second place. Finishing in third place were Gary McCord and Walter Morgan with 4-under-par 140s while Hugh Baiocchi and Bruce Lietzke finished one stroke back in fifth place. Hale Irwin, Jack Spradlin and Dana Quigley shared 7th place with 2-under-par 142s. Finishing in tenth place 7 strokes off the lead were Jose Maria Canizares, Rodger Davis, Danny Edwards, Hubert Green, Daniel O'Neill and Butch Sheehan with 1-under-par 143s. In the final round on Sunday Bruce Lietzke earned his third title in his last fourteen starts by shooting a 67 for an 8-under-par 208 total. Lietzke shot a bogey free round with three birdies over his back nine to over come his five stroke deficit. Finishing in second place Hale Irwin and Gary McCord with 7-under-par 209s. Irwin could have held the lead but bogeyed the 16th and missed a birdie putt on the 17th for a final round 67 while McCord shot a 69. Finishing in fourth place were Jose Maria Canizares, Ed Dougherty, Danny Edwards, Bruce Fleisher and Dana Quigley with 5-under-par 211s. Graham Marsh took ninth place with a final round 68 for a 4-under-par 212 total while Morris Hatalsky and Dan O'Neill shared tenth place one stroke back with 213s. Last year's winner, Mike McCullough, shared fifty-fourth place with two others eighteen strokes off the lead. |
