In the first round of the 2001 Siebel Classic J.C. Snead set a course record by shooting a 6-under-par
66. Snead carded the low score on the 1 year old course with an eagle and five birdies. Finishing two
strokes back in second place were Jim Colbert and Jack Nicklaus with 4-under-par 68s. Nicklaus finished
his round with a 35-foot birdie putt on the 18th for a total of five birdies. Finishing in fourth place were
Hubert Green, John Mahaffey and Dave Stockton with 3-under-par 69s. Seventh place was shared by
Dave Eichelberger, Jesse Patino and Jim Thorpe with 2-under-par 70s. Hale Irwin, John Jacobs, Walter
Morgan, Larry Nelson, Sammy Rachels and Leonard Thompson finished with 1-under-par 71s.

In the second round Hale Irwin shot a 70 for a 3-under-par 141 total and the lead. Irwin had four birdies
in his round for a two stroke lead over John Bland, Allen Doyle, Tom Jenkins, Jack Nicklaus, Mark Hayes
and Sammy Rachels. Bland, Doyle, Jenkins and Hayes all shot second round 70s while Rachels shot a
71 and Nicklaus a 74. Hubert Green took eighth place with a 74 for a 1-under-par 143 total. Finishing
within striking distance three strokes off the lead in ninth place were Jim Colbert, Graham Marsh, Mike
McCullough, Christy O'Connor Jr, Dave Stockton, Leonard Thompson, Rocky Thompson and Tom Watson
all with even-par 144s.

In the final round on Sunday Hale Irwin shot a 65 for a 10-under-par 206 and $210,000. Irwin shot an
eagle on the 4th hole and five birdies for his 30th career win and a five stroke victory over Allen Doyle
and Tom Watson. Doyle shot a final round 69 and Watson a 67 for 5-under-par 211s and $112,000
apiece. Jack Nicklaus finished in fourth place with a 71 for a 213 total. Nicklaus's fourth place finish was
his best since 1997 when he tied for second in the PGA Seniors Championship. Fifth place was shared
by Jim Colbert, Mike McCullough and Sammy Rachels with 214s. Tom Jenkins and Gary Player shared
eight place nine strokes off the lead with 215s while Ed Dougherty, Mark Hayes, Graham Marsh, Andy
North and Rocky Thompson finished one stroke further back with 216s.
