| Hawaiian legend refers to three men who walked "Kuilima" (to go arm-in- arm) while walking the shoreline of what is now resort grounds, thus naming the area Kuilima. The hotel stands today on Kuilima Point which was considered a sacred place by Hawaiian Fishermen who erected an altar on the site. Relics from the altar are on exhibit at the world-renown Bishop Museum in Honolulu. |
